Asphalt Testing in Makkah — Roads Engineered for Hajj and Umrah Traffic
Makkah's roads around the Grand Mosque and the Hajj routes in Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat carry millions of pedestrians and heavy buses. Asphalt pavement surface temperatures exceed 70°C in summer, causing severe rutting in wheel tracks.
ASAS Lab Asphalt Testing in Makkah
We perform the full suite of asphalt tests per SASO 1177 and Ministry of Transport specifications: Marshall Stability and Flow to determine optimal binder content, extraction tests verifying in-place binder percentage, nuclear gauge compaction checks, and Dynamic Creep testing to assess high-temperature deformation resistance. Reports document layer-by-layer compliance (base, binder, wearing course) for government submission.

FAQ About Asphalt Testing
Saudi specifications and the Roads Authority require Marshall test (ASTM D6926) for mix design, bitumen content determination (ASTM D2172), gradation, and maximum theoretical specific gravity (ASTM D2041). Asphalt cores are also taken post-paving to verify in-place density.
